A JEWISH MYSTERY
The position of Jews under the German winter help scheme is still obscure. This is chiefly due, it would appear, to a desire to discriminate against ' Jews without antagonising foreign opinion— 'now regarded as of enhanced importance in view of the holding of the Olympic Games in Berlin next year. A first statement by the head of the Berlin section of the organisation that the Jews would be excluded was contradicted a, few days later by an announcement that "The Jews will be cared for b,y the winter help organisation." A compromise now appears to have been effected under which Jews will have a separate section of the help scheme.
