3TORE CATTLE IN DEMAND
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) ■ . FEILDING, December C. The demand for store cattle was the one bright feature of a rather lifeless stock sale today. Good station cattle sold well, with evidences of a fairly good market holding. Fat cattle were not easy of quittance, the warm weather apparently affecting ■ the market. The dairy cattle section was dull, only farmers' unwanted stock being offered. Fat sheep were sticky, while store sheep were not quickly sold. Fat sheep: Prime ewes, 15s 6d to 16s 8d; light, 11s to 14s lOd; prime wethers, 265.9 d; medium, 21s 6d to 245; b.f. twotooths, 23s Id; light, '20s 3d to 235; shorn hoggets, 20s 3d to 235; • woolly, 21s 3d to 25s 4d; stores, four and sixtooth ewes, 225; two-tooth ewes,-27s to 295; ewes and lambs, 345; ewe hoggets, 22s to 22s sd; wether hoggets, 16s 6d to 21s 3d; b.f. hoggets, 20s 6d; two-.tooth wethers, 17s 5d to 19s 3d. Store cattle: Two-year Hereford steers, £4 19s 6d to £5 ss; P.A., £5 9s to: £5 13s 6d; three-year P.A. steers, £6 6d to £6 lls; two-year P.A.'heifers, £4 6s; P.A. cows and calves, £6 15s; forward Jersey cows, £2 lls to £-4 /13s; potter cows, 20s to 40s; empty heifers, £2 5s to £3 6s; yearling Jersey heifers, £1 16s 6d to £2 12s; cows and calves £2 12s to £3 14s; mixed yearling steers, 27s to £3 Bs. Fat cattle: Cows, Shorthorn, £6 to £8 ss; PA., £5 12s 6d to £7 7s 6d; Hereford, £4 17s 6d to £6; Jersey, £3 15s to £5 7s 6d; Jersey heifers, £3 17s 6d to £4 15s; dairy springing heifers, £2 2s 6d to £3 17s 6d. Pigs: Weaners, 9s 6d to 15s 6d; slips, 13s 6d to 22s 6d; porkers, 31s 6d to 40s. CARTERTON PRICES FIRM. Cattle sold well at the weekly Carterton sale yesterday, prices being well up to late rates, but pigs especially weaners, were- slightly easier. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. submitted a good yarding of cattle and pigs to a large attendance, realising the following prices:— Cattle.—Springing heifers, to £4; heifers just calved, to £4 ss; forward heifers, to £3 ss; yearling Jersey heifers, to £2 10s; cows and calves, £3 15s to £4 12s; fat cows, to £3; forward cows, 35s to £2 ss; store cows. 22s 6d to 30s; cull cows, 12s 6d to 17s 6d: Jersey bull,1 £3 to £4; potter bulls £3 2s 6d to £6 2s 6d. • \ .
