GARGOYLE CUP,

The annual match for. the Gargoyle Cup,, which is competed for by members of the. staff,of■ the' Yaeuuni Oil Company Proprietary, Ltd., was played on the Miramar links yesterday. The competition took the form of a medal round on handicap, and resulted in a win for a long-handicap player, W. L. Trotter, who, off the 24 mark, covered the course in 94, which' gave him a net score of 70.'

R. Nagle, an. invited guest,' and L. W. Gilbert, of the Vacuum Oil Company's staff, came next with- 85, 12—73, and 91, 18—73 respectively. CD. Gordon came next with 84, 10^74. . r After the competition,. members of the staff and guests assembled at. the clubhouse.1 The general manager' for New Zealand of the Vacuum Oil Company, Mr. J. H, Lindon, in congratulating the winners, said that.thecup had been competed for now for some years, and they had-had a lotof fun, and golf of good,: bad, and .indifferent quality. This year they had tftought'it would be a good idea to invite some: outsiders to compete for the cup, .and.tjiey. were pleased to see- so many - visitors them.
