.The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of. business this, week:—Trade in wethers is slow. There is a better inquiry for ewes. The market" is'short of supplies of lamb' and prices are nominal. The beef market is quiet but firm. Trade, generally, is brighter. Prices:—Wethers, light, 4 5-8 dto sld, heavy 3hd to 4£d; ewes, 2Jd to 3 l-Bd-lambs, 2's 7*d to 7Jd, B's 7*d to 7W 4s 6id to 7d, seconds 6^d to 7d; ox, hinds 3 3-8 dto 3 5-Bd, fores 2|d to 2£d. GOOD ALL-ROUND COMPETITION. Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., has received the following cabled advice from its Lon-! don ■ house dated December 6- The sales closed with a fairly firm tone today. There is good all-round competition. *
As compared with last sale's closing rates prices are higher by id to Id per 1b for greasy merino medium, coarse and medium greasy crossbred; prices are higher by l£d to 2d per lb for scoured merino inferior and medium scoured crossbred; prices are higher by id per lb for greasy merino inferiorprices are higher by Id per lb for fine crossbred and merino lambs; prices are higher by Id to lid per lb for crossbred lambs, greasy merino super, and crossbred slipe; prices are higher by lid per lb for coarse scoured crossbred, and 2d per lb higher for superior and medium scoured merino and fine scoured crossbred.
Quotations for good average New Zealand wool greasy fleece are:—s6-58's 12£ dto 13Jd; 56's, lid to 12£ d; 50's, 9d to lOJd; 48-50's, B£d to 9d; 48's, 8d to Bid; 46-48's, 8d to Bid; 46's, 7£d to 84d; 44-46's, 7Jd to 8d;~ 40-44's 7jd to 7:; d; 40's, 7d to 7£d. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, December 6:— frozen meat quotations (prices on a "delivered" basis, i.e., including storage charges, cartage, market tolls, etc.) —Best North Island wether sheep, under 481b bid per lb, 48/sf>lb, 4 5-8 d 56/641b 4 5-Bd, 64-721b, 4 3-8 d; North Island ewes, under 48ib, 3-id: 48/561b 2 7-Bd, 56/b4lb 2jd; 64/721b, 2 5-8 d; New Zealand prime ox beef, 160/1201b 3 l-16d.
Compared with last week's quotations, wethers, under 48ib, and 48/U4 lb, l-8d per. lb higher; ewes, under 48 lb, Id per lb higher, and 48/721b, l-8d per lb higher; New Zealand beef, l-16d per lb higher. Others unchanged, with the exception of lamb, whicn is not quoted.
