STILL FINE
WITH LIGHT WINDS
Special forecast for Wellington:— tight and variable winds with northerlies predominating. Weather fine and warm. The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for light to moderate winds generally, north-easterlies prevailing north of Kawhia and Napier and northerlies to north-westerlies elsewhere. The weather for the most part will be fine and warm, but it will be cloudy and misty in western districts from Taranaki southwards with scattered light rain, more especially in the southern part of Westland and in the far south. An extensive anticyclone continues to cover the New Zealand area, hence the weather has continued to be fine and warm generally. A few isolated places in western and far southern districts, however, have reported light showers or misty rain. Winds yesterday were mainly from the north and light to moderate, although strong north-westerlies prevailed in parts of the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. By this morning, however, winds everywhere had become light to moderate and more variable in direction. The weather in Auckland yesterday was fine and warm with a light wind from the north-east. A light southwesterly was blowing there this morning. In Wellington it was also fine and warm, 10.7 hours of bright sunshine being recorded. A fresh to strong northerly wind decreased in force during the night. Christchurch had fine and clear weather with a light north-easterly breeze. In Dunedin, too, it was fine and warm, although cloudy at times, the wind there being a very light northerly.
