LIGHT AEROPLANES

The International Aeronautical Federation has decided that in future the classification of. light aeroplanes, for record-keeping purposes, shall be according to engine capacity instead of weight. The categories will be:— (1) Maximum cylinder capacity 9 litres; (2) maximum cylinder capacity 6i litres; (3) maximum cylinder capacity 4 litres; (4) maximum cylinder capacity 2 litres. Each category will include records for single-seater and multi-seater aeroplanes. Seaplanes and amphibians will be classified only in categories (1) and (2). It is hoped that the new classification will be an inducement to designers to vie; with each; other in getting the best results for "a given power.
