UPPER HUTT CLUB
The Upper Hutt Rifle Club continued its- championship series on Saturday with a shoot at 900 yards. The weather conditions were distinctly unfavourable for high scoring at this long range, a rear fishtail wind combining with a dull light and at times a misty rain to keep the riflemen busy watching for rapid changes. Despite these conditions some good individual scores were registered, among the best being an excellent 49 by H. Whiteman, who is shooting consistently well this season; S. Braid, 46; D. Purvis, 44; J. Johnstone, A. Scott, 42.
Detailed results are as follows: —
D. Purvis, 44, —, 1, 45; R. McKendry, 36, —, 9, 45; B. Dunn, 41, —, —, 41. The last three riflemen were unable to complete the second shoot on account of the failing light. Next Saturday will be a shoot at 500 yards, not musketry as previously arranged.
