DECREASE IN RETURNS
FIGURES FOR NOVEMBER
A slight decrease in the vital statistics as a whole for November is
shown in a comparison with the returns for November of last year, but marriage notices and marriages at the Registry Office have increased. For the eleven-months,' period deaths and marriages are up, and there is a decrease of only four in:.births.
TRAFFIC OFFENCES
POLICE PROSECUTIONS
Prosecutions brought by the police against motorists for breaches of the city traffic regulations were dealt with by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today.
Cyril Thurston was fined 10s and costs for failing to give way to traffic approaching on the right. Donald Nelson Carr was fined 10s and costs for a similar offence. For parking at a tram stop Netta Saunders was fined 10s and costs. Joseph Wilford Watson and Malcolm Neal Armit were each fined 10s and costs for parking within 15 feet of the building line.
Jack Devany was fined 10s and costs for having no lights on his motorvehicle. ' A' fine of 5s and costs was imposed on Arthur George Hansen for a similar offence.
Alexander Dickson was fined 5s and costs for proceeding against one-way traffic.
For parking at a tram stop Roy Edward Galvin was fined 10s and costs, Thelma Hughes was fined 5s and costs for a similar, offence. ■
Arthur Oman Heany was fined 10s and costs for parking within i 5 feet of the building line.
George Edward Kellett was fined 10s and costs for. carrying' a pillion rider on a motor-cycle without foot-rests.
For allowing a person to ride on the running board of'his motor-vehicle, Esdale Henry Lawrence was fined 10s and costs.
Joan' Marjorie Morgan was- fined 10s and costs for driving without a licence. . .
For riding without lights on his motor-cycle. Robert > Blayney Owens was fined 10s and: costs. Margaret Summers was fined as and costs for driving her motor-ear-without lights. Harry Rupert Stephens was fined 15s and costs for allowing a person to ride on the running board of his motor-vehicle. . .
• For crossing an intersection at a speed of over 15 m.p.h., Norman William Thomas was fined 20s and costs.
j. -Robert Nugent Welch was fined 10s and costs for parking over a fire plug. John Henry Wilson- and Albert Alan Wilson were each fined 10s and costs for parking within 15 feet of the building line. HIGHWAYS BOARD CASES. Several, prosecutions . were brought by the .Main/Highways Board,. Peter Summers was fined 20s arid costs for exceeding the licensed load for a heavy traffic vehicle. .
