HUTT VALLEY DEMON-
STRATION
The annual demonstration of'! the Hutt Valley United Fire Brigades Association was held at Maidstone Park on Saturday. The following were the officials:—Marshal, , Fireman f W. E. Langdon; starter,/ Mr. La Roache; timekeepers, Messrs. Stevenson, Eraser, arid Superintendent Wakelin; judges arid examiners, Messrs. H. Wakelin, J. Hepworth, W. H. Shardlow, H. Reynolds, P.- Godber, Deputy Superintendent Doran,. Foreman Anna'nd, Fireman Shardlow, Fireman SpOttiswood,'Mr. E. Home; secretary. Fireman L. L. Martin.
At the conclusion of. the competitions the prizes 'were, presented by Mr. W. Nash, M.P., who, in; a happy speech, congratulated the men on their efficient woTrk as shown by the keenness of tKe competition. - v ' . j
Results were as follows:—
Three Men Draw for Places: Petone A, 23 l-ssec, 1; Lower Hutt A, 25sec, 2; Upper Hutt B, 25 l-ssec, .3. Other competitors: Petone B 27sec, Upper Hutt A 27sec; Lower Hutt.B 3o£ec, Eastbourne, 39 2-ssec. ' ' ..',
Three Men' Replace: Petone A,'. 45 1-5 sec, 1; Upper Hutt A, 48sec, r 2; Petone B, 56 2-ssec, 3. Other ' competitors: Eastbourne 61sec, Lower Hutt A 79 1-5 sec, Lower Hutt B and Upper Hutt?B were blown out. . .;;
Two Men Modern: Lower Hutt B, 33 sec, 1; Petone A, 35 2-ssec, and Upper Hutt A, 35 2-ssec, 2 (equal). Other competitors: Upper Hutt B 41 3-ssec, Lower Hutt A 36 4-ssec, Lower Hutt D 44 3-5 sec, Petone C 50 l-ssec, Eastbourne 54 4-ssec, Lower Hutt C 62 3-ssec, Petone B were blown out. ."
Five Men Flat: Upper Hutt A, 28sec, 1; Petone A, 29sec, 2; Eastbourne, 39 l-ssec, 3. Lower Hutt were blown, out.
; 3aldwin Shield (motor events): Event No. I—Lower Hutt, 55sec, 1; Petone, 61sec, 2; Eastbourne, 76 4-ssec, 3. Upper Hutt were blown but/Event No. 2—Lower Hutt, 40 4-ssec, 1; Petone, 42 4-ssec, 2; Upper Hutt, 44sec, 3. East-bourne-were blown out.
