(Received December 2, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. ESjght vessels are now affected by the shipping strike, the total number of Mien involved being 774. Four moce ships are expected to tie up today.
An Adelaide message says that the seajmen there are unwilling to be dna.wn into the dispute unless they ane; forced in by concerted action ot th*> inter-State seamen.
The secretary of the Queensland bcanch of the Seamen's Union stated that there is no likelihood of a holdiVP at Brisbane, at least for a few days. The weekend developments seem to indicate that the seamen intend to paralyse inter-State sea transport until 1a special stop-work meeting on Tuesday determines whether they will work under the terms and conditions of the new award.
The Wanganella's sailing for Auckland has been postponed." The Strathnaver left on Saturday night with inter-State passengers, a special, permit having been granted by the Navigation Department It is stated that individual action on the part of the men is responsible lor the hold-up. The cooks are reported to be supporting the seamen, but it is unlikely that the other maritime unions will fall into line.
