PETONE BAPTISTS
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVER-
SARY
At the three anniversary services of the Petone Baptist Sunday School yesterday a children's choir of 80 voices, trained by Mr. F. S. Jackson and assisted by an orchestra, gave items.
In the morning the preacher was Pastor E. K. Vickery, 8.A., of the Church of Christ, Petone, and in the afternoon Mr. "W. Nash, M.P., spoke to the children and adults on the need of co-operation. The Key. N. R. Wood was the preacher at the evening service. At both the afternoon and evening services the seating accommodation was fully taxed. In addition to the concerted singing by the children, solos were given by Miss Alison McNamara and Master Leslie Jackson. A large proportion of the afternoon service was occupied with items by children of the primary grade, some of whom gave individual items.
During the afternoon service the prizes for the children of the primary grade were presented by Mrs. George Leatham, wife of the leader of the primary department. All the children of the primary department iteceived a prize.
The services will be continued on Tuesday, when the secretary of the Sunday School (Miss C. Johansen) will present a resume of the annual report. This will show that there has been an increase of over 30 new scholars during the past year. Prizes will be awarded to the children of the main school. ,
Mr. W. S. Haddy, superintendent of the school, has built during the year a model arch and gate and also a model two feet long of Noah's Ark. These models were used in the new scholars' campaign and were on view at the Sunday school anniversary.
