FARMER BADLY HURT
PRIVATE RAILWAY CROSSING

With his car so badly smashed this morning after being struck by a train and flung into the bushes on the side of the line at Norfolk Eoad, 20 miles from New Plymouth, that a crow bar had to be used to open the door before he could be lifted out, Mr. A. He was returning to his home in a light sedan car, and to reach his home had to cross the railway line by way of a private right-of-way with gates on each side of the line. The .crossing is badly obscured by high banks. He was almost clear of the line when caught by the train.
