FAT CATTLE EASIER.
PRICES AT LOCAL SALE
Competition for dry sheepskins wai very keen at the fortnightly sale of hides and skins held by Wellington woblbrokers yesterday. Prices advanced from £d to $d. a 3b compared with, the last sale, for all sorts except shabby, damaged, and inferior parcels. which were easier. The offering of salted sheepskins was not sufficient to test the market. Hides elicited good competition, but prices were easier as compared with the last sale, by id to Jd per lb. ■Light ox were id and medium and heavies id below late rates. Medium, light ox sold on a pur with the last sale. Light cow were id, medium id, and heavy l-8d lower. Yearlings and calf were id to id down. The. tallow market was firm. The range of prices was as follows: Dry Sheepskins.—Halfbred, 7Jd to lldd a lb; fine crossbred, 73d to lOd; medium, 6Jd to 9|d; coarse, 6Jd to B|d; half wools, 3£d to BJd; quarter wools, 2Jd to 7Jd; pelts, 2£d to 6d. Salted Skins.—Pelts, 9d to 2s 2d each; half wools, 5s 6d; full wools, 7s to 7s 6d; lambs, 2s 3d. Hides.—Ox, 331b to 441b 4 l-8d to s|d a lb; 45 to 52, 5 l-8d to Gid; 53 to 59, 6d to (i 5-8 d; 60 to 69. 6 l-8d to 7d; 701b and over, 7id. Cow—33 to 39, 4 l-8d to s|d; 40 to 48 3Jd to 5Jd; 491b and over, 3 3-8 dto 61d. Kip.—2s to 32, 4£d to Bid; 17 to 24, 3|d to 6Jd. Yearling.—ll to 16, 5Jd to 7d. Calf.—9 to 10, 6Jd to 7id: 6 to 8, 8d to lOJd; 1 to 5, 8d to 10 7-Bd. Tallow.—ln casks, etc., 26s to 30s « cwt; in tins, 16s 6d to 245. Sundries—Cow tails, 8d a lb: horse hair, 18Jd to 19Jd.
..The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report a smaller yarding of all classes of stock at the Feilding sale yesterday, Prices for fat sheep were easier, the very best fat ewes making from Uis 6d to 16s 6d. tat cattle were also easier. Only a limited yarding of store cattle came forward. Potters and store cows sold well as also did good young steers. Good yearling P.A. heifers sold to £4. Young cattle generally maintained recent values. Store sheep were easier in price, the improvement in wool prices being offset to a certain extent. Some of the realisations are as follows:— Ewe hoggets, 57 at 26s 9d, 14 at 28s 3d, 66 at 275; wether hoggets, 118 at 22s lid, 54 at 19s; 2-tooth ewes, 63 at 26s 9d, 74 at 28s; 2-tooth wethers, 128 at 21s, 64 at 19s 6d; 63 ewes and lambs, 15s 3d; 21 ewes and 22 lambs, 15s: fat hoggets, 13 at 20s 6d, :22 at 21s 2d; fat hoggets, 27 at 21s 6d; fat ewes, 17 at 14s, 23 at 15s 2d. 31 at 12s 6d. Store cows, £2, £2 7s 6d, £2 15s, £3, to £3 15s; store heifers, £2 5s to £2 12s; yearling heifers, £1 15s to £2 15s; springing heifers, £4 2s 6d, £4 7s 6d, to £5: cows and calves, £3 10s to £4 10s; Hereford steers, yearling, £3 7s 6d; yearling P-A. heifers, £4, £4 2s 6d; fat cattle, fat bullocks, £6 to £8 15s; fat P.A. heifers, £6 to £7; fat dairy cows, £3, £3 10s, £3 13s 6d, to £4 10s.
