Ihe address which was read m Maen extended greetings to the Minister stating that the opportunity, despite the turmoil of elections, could not be allowed to pass without <v expression of gratitude for the worh he had performed on behalf of the people :n the past. 'Although a political dust storm is raging, Mr. Coates stands out clearly in the Maori eyes as a frien.l of the Native people," the address read. "So far as the Maori people in (he Waikat:> are concerned, after November 27, Mr. Coates will still be playing v leacing part in the affairs of the country. A circular to this effect has beau issued to the Maoris in the Western Maori electorate to support Mr Taile te Tomo."
