GARDEN PARTY
(From "The Post's" Representative.) The Nelson Girls' College Old Girls' Association held a garden party on ! Saturday, afternoon at Mr. and Mrs. ) B. R. Norman's residence, Waterloo ' Road. The garden with its picturesque } flower beds was much admired. Be- ' neatli the trees easy chairs and tables ' were arranged, and a delicious after- < noon tea was served. ] Mrs. Norman received the guests, ! among,whom were the patroness. Miss Lorimer, and the president, Mrs. Maifroy. Mrs. Norman presented both with beautiful bouquets of roses. A tennis tournament was held, the winners being Mrs. Gilchrist and Miss Croucher, who received small trophies. Among those presem were Mesdames Maloney, Chisolm, McLaren, McFersoii (Patea), Hammond, Gillespie, Jowett, Nicholson, Gilchrist, Hoggard, Pearson, Nelson, Meldrum, Cailly (Rarotonga), Miles, Ogalvie, and Purvis, and Misses E. McKenzie, J. McKenzie, G. Anyon, Bell, EUis, Kershaw, Cowles, Croucher, C. Hitchings, K. Hitchings, j. Murphy, E. Murphy (secretary), Simpson, Niven, Robinson, Press, N. Gillespie. Tennis Club Dance. The Petone Tennis Club held a dance In the club pavilion on Saturday night There was a large attendance of dancers, and excellent music and a delicious supper, prepared by the committee, helped to make the function a very successful one. Among the dancers were Mesdames McEwen, Hoskins, Norton, Smith, Mr. and Mrs. I. Willis, Misses Vera Burns, Jessie Burns, Muriel Howe, Babe Thompson, Eileen Savage, M. Jones, Hettie Ken:, Marjorie Ryan, M. Ryan, S. Evans, J. Bull, M. McMillan, B. Whyte, W. Whyte, p. Lorrie, R. Pi cot, and Messrs. Ted Thompson,' Ron Millard, Wilfred Jarman, Rolf Lamberg, Les Evans, Jack Drysdale, Eric Ridyard, Charlie Mouat, Noel Bedford, Norman Morrison, T. Ryan, H. Hoskins, T. Eddie, George Pearce, B. Fleet, Abraham, I. Duncan, D. Parala, G. Lauchlan. C. Muir, T. Kfng, J. Crandis. "Brihar and Buy." The Mayoress of Lower Hull (Mrs. J. W. Andrews) hel,d a successful "bring and buy" afternoon in aid of the' Free Kindergarten on Friday in the R.S.A. rooms. Those who assisted Mrs. Andrews were Mrs. Kersley, Mrs. Harlan, Mrs. Nash, and Miss Marjorie Barton. "•• ■ . Personals. Miss Patricia Marshall, Bellevus Road, has left with a party "of campers for a week's holiday on Kapiti Island.
Miss Jean Hinton, who has been staying with Mrs. T. Bedpath, Woburn, Lower Hutt, returned to Christchurch lastiweek.
Mr: F. J. Jones, Waterloo Road, and his_ two daughters. Misses Betty and Unity Jones, haye returned home from a holiday in Rotorua and Auckland.
