ROAD CYCLE RACE

TIMARU TO CHRISTCHURCH

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, November 23 One hundred and eleven riders started in the Timaru to Christchurch cycle race today. Riding conditions were atrocious. The men had to ride against a strong north-east gale for the whole journey, and at least 75 per cent, of the starters did not complete the course.

The only outside rider was T. Smith (handicap 40min), New Plymouth, who finished seventh. H. G. Watson (scr) did not finish. L. G. Fleming made the fastest time.
