On Saturday the weather was mainly fal* with moderate southerly' winds prevailing la the North Island and north-westerlies ill the South. During Saturday night and Sunday, however, a depression crossed the Dominion and conditions became rapidly unsettled with rain In all western dlstrltts and the far > south.l- The winds freshened from the north-west In and south of Cook Strait but by Sunday morning a change to south-westorlles had occurred ovor most of the South Island; During Sunday afternoon.and Dlßht rain extended.to the east coast of the South Island where also thunder and hall occurred in places.
