EFFECTS IN BRITAIN

TRAFFIC DISORGANISATION

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 21. While the floods in many parts of the country are gradually subsiding, continued heavy rain in several districts threatens to prolong the period of uncertainty. A considerable diversion of traffic is still necessary. Trunk telephone communications have been interrupted by the aclion of the flood water. Road difficulties were increased today by a certain amount of fog. Incoming airliners were unable to land at Croydon and had to land their passengers at Gravesend and Lympne. Some services -/ere cancelled. Further rains fell late yesterday in most parts of the country, particularly in the south and west. The rains were less general this 'morning, and the immediate outlook is more promising, but. another intense depression is approaching- from the Atlantic. The Thames is still rising, but so far the flooding ir. its valley is not serious. » Several roads are still affected in Kent, Sussex, Bedfordshire, the Midlands, and the West Counties.
