LABOUR SCHEMES
BUILDING WITHOUT PLANS
Mr. V. E. Jacobson, the Nationalist candidate for Hutt, addressed a wellattended meeting of electors in Wilford Settlement School, Petone la«t night.
After dealing briefly with the record of the National Government and the prospects for progress with its continuance in office, the candidate referred to what he described as the doubtful policy of the Socialistic Labour Party and the apparent risks which would arise with its acceptance. Failing the furnishing of details by the supporters of the guaranteed prices scheme as to how it could be put into operation and what the results and reactions could be, Mr. Jacobson claimed that it must come within the same category as an attempt to develop an architect's idea without plans and specifications. Such a scheme must have undesirable features and^ doubtful results or why the silence of its sponsors and their reluctance to take the electors into their coniidence? The candidate referred to what might be described as a new "Munro Doctrine." He stated that the recent happenings had given a new and clear insight into the intentions of the Socialistic Labour Party and the methods which they would adopt if given the power to enforce their will upon the people. He stated-that the president and other members of the Socialistic Labour Party must have been fully aware of Mr. Munro's views as reported in the Press and must approve of his utterances.
