MONDAY'S WRESTLING.

Exceptional interest has been aroused by the announcement that Johnny Woods, the engaging young Californian wrestler, is to reap'per in the Wellington : ring on Monday night against Glenn Wade. Woods is very solidly built and carries about 15 stone of bone and muscle in his stocky frame. He has been in the wrestling game long enough to master its fine points but not long enough to lose the youthful exuberance which marked his displays when, as a student at the California I | State University, he won 'the intercollegiate championship of the Pacific Coast for two successive years. Wellington enthusiasts have vivid recollections of his first match here, in which he kept Earl McCready moving at a fast clip until he was put out of action by refusing to submit to the Canadian's "octopus death lock." Since then Woods has hada number of contests throughout the Dominion and. has become a public favourite everywhere. His recent match with Wade at Christchurch'was described as the sensation of the season at that centre. All those who have seen Wade in action—and they.are many—know that there is no more* shrewd arid skilful .wrestler in the-country, and that he always puts on a good performance. Particulars are-advertised. ■■ • • ■
