RACING AT PUKEKOHE

BAY OF ISLANDS MEETING

(Special from "Early Bird.")

AUCKLAND, This Day. For the second year in succession the Franklin Racing Club will conduct the annual race meeting of the Bay of Islands Racing Club, the fixture being set down for Pukekohe tomorrow. Fields are good throughout, and while one or two of the events have thinned a bit the programme is still a very interesting one and the form disclosed may prove of further value for the Takapuna and Dargaville fixtures which follow. The course should be in excellent order unless rain falls on race day, for this track recovers well Betting will be under the win-and-place system.

Of primary importance tomorrow is the Kawakawa Cup, which has drawn a field of eleven, and the scale of weights is much higher than in previous contests of the kind, with the class not good. Puss Moth, Gay Broney, and Prince Colossus are on the same mark with the top impost and of this trio Gay Broney's win at Whangarei and his second to King Rey last week entitle him to most consideration. , If any of the topweights are to be beaten it may be by Miss Lv whose Whangarei form was most encouraging. She has 8.5 and the full! allowance, for her usual-pilot will reduce this to 141b below Gay Broney Baroscope went a good race at Te Rapa ?£ d ?\H was one of the sufferers in h^ 6 early.in the contest his fifth was creditable. The fields in all except the Hack Cup are excellent, the club being fortunate that the maiden race is only S§sto&asSl^ aunber- *»» the°Mlowtor- engaged tOmorrow are Gr^oii aa a* Mariin> Le^Ss, an^^B^ef tenment' Br^^B^sc^ 3 P^^l" J"yenile.-Gay Chief, G&y Streak, and Gay Talkie B&Wfc HaCk C^T«^ Bo * o^-a^ arf ka Handicap.— Bellkyrian R^™!?' l" d Ballymoney. y ' .Kussell Handicap.—Wait and Spp Tray Bit, and Scotland.
