The management of the Pla«a Theatre in conjunction with British Dominions Films presents today Elisabeth Bergner in "Escape Me Never" —the actress and the picture that have been credited by the world's critics as standing on a pinnacle above all others. Concerning its New Zealand premiere at Christchurch and its subsequent successful return season there, a Christchurch critic wrote:— "Rarely, if ever, has the moving picture screen been the vehicle for sueh1 brilliant dramatic art as that of Elisabeth Bergner in 'Escape Me Never.' This remarkable production is a revelation of what acting can be. It is no exaggeration to say that Miss Bergner held the audience in thrall. There was a subtle atmosphere in the theatre, and throughout the screening there was a deep silence, unbroken even by the usual rustling of paper ■ bags. There is something mysterious ! about her acting. She makes a point, ilt is never laboured., but everybody feels what she wishes them to feel. Her features are expressively mobile, but that is only part of the stor}". Her walk, her manner of standing, the very poise of her lovely head —all play their part/]
