ROADWAY CLOSED

BUNNY STREET WORK

As a result of difficulties which have arisen in regard to the connecting up of underground services, consequent upon some modification of plans for the roadway and tramway tracks to the new railway station, the City Council has judged it wise to declare a portion of Featherston Street, about the intersection of Bunny Street, closed to traffic. The road surface has been partially excavated for some weeks now, in preparation for the laying of a concrete foundation for the new road surface, and a distinct danger has existed through the barricade about the excavation extending to within a few feet of the tram tracks. The barricade is in the meantime being erected in such a manner as to indicate clearly that the way is closed and that pedestrians are not to pass between the barricade and the tram tracks.

It is hoped that this part of the work will be completed next week.
