■ . 'oy-Pressure area to the north-east bat Intensified somewhat, while an anticyclone extends from the northern Tasman Sea southwards across tho South Island. . Light to fresh southerly winds have consequently continue* to prevail north of Westport and Kaikouraj while thence southwards northerlies hay« predominated. Dull conditions and scattered light rains have occurred between Castlepolnt and East Cape, but elsewhere the weather has for the most part been fair to fine, althougli there has been considerable cloud In all eastern districts.
