MORE LIKE SUMMER Special forecast for Wellington:— Winds light and variable at first, but soon tending 1 northerly and gradually freshening. Weather fine and becoming milder.

The general forecast for the , Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for light to fresh but decreasing south-easterly winds at first over the North Island. Elsewhere there will be freshening northerlies, and northerlies will extend gradually northward over the Dominion. It will cloud over and rain will develop in Westland and the far south, but elsewhere the weather will be fine with milder temperatures. In the North Island yesterday the weather was changeable, the moderate to strong south-easterly to southerly winds being accompanied" by rain in scattered places, more especially in northern and eastern districts. East Cape had a heavy fall of rain totalling 185 points. In the South Island, on the other hand, winds were mainly light or moderate and variable in direction and fair weather was experienced. This morning saw an anticyclone overspreading the Dominion and, except between Napier and East Cape where showers were reported,' the weather was fair to fine generally, the southerly winds having decreased in force.

Auckland had an easterly breeze yesterday with changeable weather, occasional showers falling during the afternoon and night. At 9 a.m. today a light southerly was blowing and the sky was clear.

Wellington had a few light showers early yesterday morning, but the weather was fine most of the day, although cloudy at times, with 6~3 hours of bright sunshine. A strong and cold southerly wind prevailed, but this decreased in the evening and since last night it has been very light. The wind this morning was more easterly in direction. Both Kelburn and Lower Hult recorded only a trace of rain.

It was cloudy in Christchurch in the morning, but sunny in the afternoon when a north-easterly wind freshened. At 9 a.m. today the weather was overcast with a strong wind from the north-east.

Dunedin had fine and clear weather yesterday with a north-easterly breeze. It was overcast this morning with a northerly breeze.
