PHYSICAL CULTURE
AN INTERESTING DISPLAY "Physical culture is rapidly becoming very popular among young women of today," said Miss Marion Todd, speaking to a large gathering at the Y.W.C.A. hall, when a demonstration of physical culture was given by Miss Todd and her pupils. "One of the principal organisations is the League of Health and Beauty," continued Miss Todd. "This league has spread throughout the Empire during the past five years, and it is astonishing to note that the initial club consisted of a mere six members." The programme consisted of individual classes performing various exercises, including circulation, .limbering, balancing, reclining, fencing, and general toning groups. Throughout the display the gaily-coloured tunics of the performers and the graceful movement gave a most spectacular effect. A popular item entitled "Light and Shade" consisted of a ' series of poses by a quartet clad in filmy frocks. Miss Todd gave two demonstrations to show the advantages of systematic exercise, with ease and grace. At the conclusion Miss Todd was accorded a hearty vote of appreciation, and many beautiful bouquets were presented to the performers.
