WIETHODISTS ON GAMBLIIMC (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. At the annual.Synod of the OtagoSouthland district of the Methodist Church yesterday, the Public Questions Committee submitted the following finding:—"ln vfew of the widespread and increasing prevalence of the gambling and betting mania and the insidious evils attendant upon such, Synods counsel the people of the Methodist Church to abstain from participation in" any form of gambling and do' all in their power to lessen its sway in the community; we further urge that instruction in the evils of gambling be given by youth workers of the Church."

The chairman said that although the proceeds of art unions were devoted to the relief of. distress, the whole system was pernicious. If the interests of the needy were to be studied, why give large sums in prizes? Why not give straight out? The finding was approved.
