The King's chef,. M. Henry Cedan., died in London last month at the age of 73. M. Cedard accompanied. the King on all his travels and went to the front with him He became chet to the King, then the Prince of Wales, in 1902 M. Cedard, like most cooks who have reached the top, began his career early—at the age of 13—in the kitchen of a small restaurant in Boulogne. After his apprenticeship he went with private families He travelled to England in 1883. and accompanied the Duke of Connaught in India from 1886 till 1890. He left the service of the Duke to become chef to Lord Dartmouth He once disclosed that the King's favourite dishes were filleted sole and roast chicken. M. Cedard was regarded as one of the finest chefs in the world, and his salary was £2OOO a year
