REV. DR. COURTENAY C. WEEKS DISSOCIATES HIMSELF FROM THE PROHIBITIONISTS. I The Rev. Dr. Courtenay C. Weeks, in his capacity as Director of the National Temperance League, gave , evidence on behalf of the Organised Temperance Forces of England and Wales before the Royal Commission ion Licensing as follows: In reply to the question, "Do you wish to limit by legislation the consumption of alcohol to commercial and medicinal purposes?" Dr. Weeks said, "If by your question you mean, do I advocate prohibition, the answer is no." In reply to a further question Dr. | Weeks said, "I have neither advocated 1 prohibition, nor have I worked for it." Because Dr. Weeks is a well-known [ total abstainer his name lias erroneously been used in prohibition propaganda. Unfortunately there are still some people who cannot appreciate the difference between voluntary j total abstinence and compulsory total abstinence. Every man and woman interested in the advancement of true temperance will cast a vote for Continuance by striking out, the two bottom linos.— Advt.
