INVERCARGILL TRACK NOTES (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, This Day. The weather and track conditions were perfect for U-aining operations at Invercargill this morning when candidates for the Southland Racing Club's Spring Meeting were given their final gallops. All the fast work was done on the course proper, about twenty feet from the rails. Honest Maid beat June the Third over a mile in lmin 45 2-ssec, the last four furlongs in 52 3-ssec. Honest Maid was running strongly at the finish. Her recent track work has been encouraging. Red Boa beat Young Sentinel narrowly over six furlongs in lmin 18 2-sscc, the last four in 53sec. It was a good gallop, and both horses look well. Amelita and Galleon were together at the end of six furlongs covered in lmin 20sec, the last four in 53 2-ssec. Both were finishing on, and Amelita could have improved on her cfi'ort. Enwood was under a strong hold running five furlongs in lmin •i 4-ssec. Pompax beat All Humbug comfortably over six furlongs in lmin 17 3-sscc. The first three took 36 4-ssec and the last four 53sec.
Red Treasure and Thornton, joined by Ocean Singer over the last four furlongs, went six. Ocean Singer easily accounted for Thornton. The six furlongs were run in lmin 17 3-ssec, and the last four in 53 1-Ssec. The first half-mile was run in 49 4-ssec, and Red Treasure was stopping. Great Shot, who is very well, ran four _ furlongs under restraint in 52 3-ssec. Steeton ran a mile in lmin 49 2-ssec, the last four furlongs in 53 3-sscc. She is none the worse for racing at Riccarton. Gas Raid ran a mile in lmin 48 3-ssec, the last, four in 53 2-ssec. Gold Street beat Choicewood over seven furlongs in lmin 7 3-ssec. and Horn's Reef beat Corban nnd Waipounamu comfortably over six in lmin .1!) 2-ssec, (he last four in ;TJsrc.
Cough, who is under a cloud, was restricted to nn easy sprint over three furlongs. She was moving a bit short, and it. is thought she has ricked a muscle behind. Me Nab has also hurt himself behind, and was confined 1o slow work.
