COMMUNIST IDEAL
OPINION RESENTED SEQUEL IN COURT (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. William Devereaux, who described himself as a Communist, was convicted and discharged by Mr. E. C. Levvcy, S.M., today on a charge of using insulting language.
It was stated that Devereaux attended a political meeting held by Mr. R. MacFarlane, Labour candidate for Christchurch North, and asked questions. When Mr. MacFarlane said the Communist ideal was to keep the workers poor in order that Communists could spread propaganda, Devereaux immediately jumped to his feet and shouted: "You're a liar." Mr. Levvey advised Devereaux to refrain from attending election meetings.
