The Slav terrorists who are on trial for alleged complicity in the assassination of King Alexander of Yugoslavia and M. Barthou started a hunger-strike last night and refused to leave their cells today. Gendarmes practically carried them to the court, struggling furiously. The prisoners declare that they will not answer questions till Maitre Desbons resumes the' defence.
Maitre Desbons went to the prison to see his clients, but was refused access on the ground that he no 'longer has the rights of a barrister.
He told the Press that "being struck off the rolls is the honour of my career."
The news that Maitre Desbons had been struck off the roll caused a sensation in the Paris Bar. A leading lawyer recalled that M. Briand was once disbarred. His described the decision as regards Maitre Desbons as outrageous and based on political rather than on judicial grounds.
