WAIT AND SEE UNLUCKY

Wait and See, who is a sister to the well-performed Australian galloper Whittingham, must have been missed by the judge in the finish of the Cambridge Handicap at the Waikato Meeting last Saturday, as it was the general opinion that she was third, yet she was not placed in the first four. She put in a phenomenal run along the rail and at the post she had apparently reached the money. She would have paid double figures even for a placing. Wait and See was having her first outing in the colours of her new owner, Mr. J. Martin, and it was unfortunate that he did not have the privilege of collecting such a surprising place dividend,' Not only was Wait and See unlucky in not being placed third, but she might have won had she been better placed at the home turn, for she was going^ faster than, anything on the post. There was only £12 on her chance on the win machine and her starting price was well over the century mark. On the place totalisator she was sup-, I ported to the extent of £46. I

Last season Wait and See was raced in the ownership of Mr. C. E. Robertson, of Wellington. She is now trained by C. Morse at Takanini, who has had a very bad time in hospital undergoing a series of operations, but three successes on end with the hurdler Merry Lap and the forward running of Wait and See have proved a wonderful tonic to the invalid.
