"THE THREE MUSKETEERS."

On Friday at the State.

Impressively produced and superbly acted, KKO-Radio's "The Three MusKeteers" comes to the State Theatre on Friday next, witn the lull enchantment of Alexandre Dumas's ageless romance to taite its place among line season's outstanding pictures. Against an authentic background of i'un century .trance with the intngueriaden court of Lquis XIII, the dark streets of Paris, the duelling grounds behind tne Luxembourg, the ambushed [road to Calais, the story, familiar to millions, rushes to its powerful climax in a series of thrilling escapades. The [adaptation of the tale by Dudley ! Nicnois and Rowland V. Lee and Lee's direction have followed the unexcelled story-telling pattern of Dumas. The swash-buckle, the serious and comic duels, the court intrigues; the furtive and tempestuous love making, the I robust comedy, and the immortal loyalty of the musketeers—all these ingredients, which have kept the i romance popular for ninety years, are preserved in perfect balance. Walter Abel, coming as a new personality to the screen with a distinguished stage record on Broadway, portrays d'Artagnan with fiery conviction. His brilliant interpretation of the role fulfils completely its requirements of chivalry, reserved tenderness, and fighting spirit. Out of his Gascony chaeau he rides to challenge high adventure and offer his sword to the king. In quick-won comradeship with the three best blades in France, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, he plunges valiantly into defence of his queen's honour, threatened by the powerful Cardinal Richlieu.
