BUSINESS ON THE QUAY

A full committee meeting of the Lambton Quay Area Business Association was held yesterday at the office of the secretary (Mr. V. N. Beasley). Mr. W. Simm presided. The organiser for the association (Mr. T. O. Tremayne) read a comprehensive report covering the progress of the movement, and outlining a definite policy, which was adopted. It was contended that while in common with the rest of the world scientific and, financial progress was evident in Wellington, aesthetic and cultural progress-in the Quay area had not kept pace. A better system of lighting present dark areas was required. A strong sub-commit-tee was set up to endeavour to arouse interest in this regard. The^ organiser stated that he had received assurances of moral and financial support from every person interviewed. The association proposes to extend its operations in the near future.
