In a single bird per member championship flock race from Timaru, 279 miles airline, twelve members of the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society competed. The pigeoDS were certified by the stationmaster to have been liberated ,at 6.30 a.m., and the winner was timed in at 10-25.51 a.m., taking under four hours for the journey. The birds must have had exceptional flying conditions as the time recorded must be a Dominion, if not an Australasian record velocity. Unfortunately several members were not prepared for their birds' return and were not at home to clock their birds in. The winner receives a silver cup kindly donated by Mr. F. Sanders, and holds the club south championship. The first eight places were:—
