POLITICAL PROPHECY
A certain amount of political prophecy was indulged in by Mr. R. A. Wright, Independent candidate for Wellington Suburbs, during his address to electors at Kaiwarra last night. He expressed the opinion that Sir Alexander Herdman and Messrs. C. A. Wilkinson and W. D. Lysnar would be amongst those returned to Parliament, and anticipated that six or eight Independents would be elected.
"I have said that this. election is going to be a lottery—an absolute gamble—and nobody can say what the final position will be," said Mr. Wright. "But in. regard to the Independents I think there will be more than one in the House. I think there will be a small group of Independents returned." ■,
Mr. Wright said he considered that in this election very many electors were going to lay. party on one side, and vote for the candidate on his personality, his record, or what they knew of him.
