"I am not attacking the Government," said Mrs. Knox Gilmer at the Methodist Schoolroom, Molesworth Street, last night. "I believe," she said, "that it honestly tried to do its best when the depression struck New Zealand. But I do say that the Government of ■ the day, although it made all provision, or what it thought was sufficient provision, for the worker and the unemployed, it did not have sufficient vision to see that if the depression lasted four or -five years the same measures they adopted in the beginning would not do as the depression advanced year by year."
