REPERTORY EVENING

The first night of the second annual presentation of a series of one-act plays was given by members of the Wellington Repertory Society in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last night. The hall was crowded, and each of the plays received prolonged applause. Among the audience were Mr. and Mrs. Leo dv Chateau, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Coleridge, Mrs. Seed, Mrs. McLean, Miss V. M. Greig, Mrs. Dargaville, Miss Coralie Smythson, Miss Lina Clarke, Miss Tiora Meadows, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Melgar, Mr. and Mrs. Ilott, Dr. and Mrs. Louis Levy, Mr. and Mrs. Bassant, Miss Fletcher, Mr". and Mrs. Evatt, Mr. and Mrs. Lowe, Mr. H. H. Nicholls and Miss Nicholls, Mrs. Swan, Mr. and Mrs. Smallwood Mr. and Mrs. W. Page, Misses La Trobe, Brown, Coleman, Eastwood, Pat Munro, Giorgi, Robertson, Monica Maifroy, Mr. and Mrs. and Miss Mary Simm, Mr. Alan Simm, Mrs. Baldwin Miss W. Wemys, Miss Irene Spidy' Mrs. Springhall, Misses M. and L Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. E. Le Grove' Mr. Bernard Webb, Mr. Hogg, Miss Williams, Miss Nora Gray, Miss Lorimer, Mr. and Mrs. E. W Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. F. Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Graham, Mr. and Mrs. H W Thompson, Mr. Jolly, and Mr. Victor Lloyd.

The ushers, were Mrs. George Swan and the Misses Page (3), Smith, h! Miles, Z. Tansley, Pearson, Ailsa Newton, Irene Spidy, and Macintosh. Programme sellers were Misses T Meadows, R. Brown, and P. Batten Mrs. Horton was in charge. During the intervals music was supplied by the Wellington Orchestral Society.

The Wanganui Co-operative Society had a record gathering at their second birthday, which was held in the Peter Pan Hall. Progressive "500" and dancing were the features of the evening. A welcome was extended by the president to all members and visitors. The guest of honour was Miss Huntington, M.A., of Wellington, who was welcomed by the president of the Co-operative Society, Mr. Harris. The birthday cake was cut by the president of the Ladies' Guild, Mrs. Harris, and Miss Huntington. A very interesting address was given by Miss Huntington on "Co-operation." The duties of M.C. were carried out very successfully by Mr. Jenkins.
