PLUNKET APPEAL
A READY RESPONSE
The appeal now being made on behalf of the Plunket Society to raise sufficient .funds to wipe out any deficit on the current year's working and to provide for the necessary extension of the work in future is meeting with a ready, response from the citizens of Wellington. The committee is working indefatigably in many' directions and has the aid of a number of willing helpers, and when the campaign is closed it is hoped that theii efforts will have been adequately rewarded.
The .voluig competition is still going strong.. Maisie (Wellington Central) still heads the poll with 3672 votes. Gloria; the Judean candidate, is a close second with 3420, while thi DIC. Fam has polled 1840 votes. Oa Monday next the three candidates' committees wi'.l be in attendance at the D.I.C. lounge and hope to meet large numbers of the public anxicus to record, their votes. Tne poll closes on December 4. and the crowning ceremony at a. subsequent garden party in the grounds of the old Ministerial residence will be performed by Miss Jean Knox Gilmer.
In the meantime bridge parties and' numerous.. other functions are being organised by willing helpers, all of which will help to swell the funds.
