After more than forty years in the soft goods business, wholesale and retail, George and Doughty, Ltd. (in liquidation), are to definitely close down. Their premises in Victoria Street have been sold. The purchasers are the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company, who will occupy the George and Doughty building, which is built of brick and concrete and of three storeys. The site has a frontage of 50 feet to Victoria Street and a depth of 110 feet; and is a City Council leasehold. The price paid for the property is not disclosed. Messrs. E. Falliser and Co., as agents, negotiated the sale.
