SOME RECENT MEETINGS
MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOAVS.
Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge—Sister Shotter presided over the last meeting when there was a fair attendance. Election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows: —Sister Joyce Couper, noble grand; Sister M. Tregurtha, vice-grand; Sister J. Tregurtha, elective secretary; Sister Culverhouse, warden; Sister Alloway, guardian; Sister E. Gibson, lecture mistress; Sister Reynard, conductor; auditor, Sister E. P. Parnell; delegate to Dispensary Board, Bro. Park; delegate to Medical Institute, Sister Reynard. Bro. Williams reported on the last Dispensary Board meeting. An invitation was received to Newtown Lodge "500" evening. It was resolved to. rescind the motion relative to meeting earlier during the summer months. A visit was received from Bro. Blair (Grand Master for New Zealand), who was accompanied by Bro. Allen, a director of the New Zealand branch and a member of the Auckland district, and .Bro. W. I. Clark, a trustee of the New Zealand branch. Final arrangements were made in respect to the holding of the fortieth anniversary celebrations. Loyal Petone Lodge (Moera Branch). —Sister E. A. Rushton presided over a good attendance. Officers elected for the ensuing term were:—Noble,grand, Bro. Heron; vice-grand, Bro. Lawson; elective secretary, Bro. Wilson; warden, Sister S. Rushton; guardian, Bro. Cooper; conductor^, Bro. Pemberton; 1.P.N.G., Sister' E. A. Rushton, lecture mistress, Sister Copeland. Bro. Foote mentioned that the Christmas tree function was being held a week earlier than at first arranged. The sick visitor (Bro. Wilson) made his report. At the close members were entertained at cards and bowls. Loyal Antipodean Lodge.—Bro. J. Moseley, Noble Grand, presided over an average attendance. An invitation was received from Sister Wallis Lodge to attend its fortieth anniversary function. Bros. E. Guise and G. Read gave short accounts of the United Friendly Societies' Dispensary management committee meeting. One candidate was nominated. It was resolved that the usual Christmas tree function be held towards the middle of December. Bro. Allen, a director of the New Zealand Branch and a member of Good Intent Lodge, Auckland, was accorded lodge honours: Fraternal greetings were conveyed from his lodge and heartily reciprocated. Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge (Juvenile Branch). —Sister Audrey Wilson presided over an excellent attendance. Three new members were initiated. Business relative to the proposition to commence a library was dealt with. Visitors present were accorded a welcome. Bro. Alf. Perrin a past district grand master of the Wellington district, presented several juvenile collars for use by floor members and also a past grand's collar. A motion of sympathy with the superintendent "of the lodge, Bro. B. J. Seddon, was passed, members standing in silence. At the conclusion a games evening was spent. Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge.—Bro. Arcus, Noble Grand, presided over a large attendance. One new member was initiated. Visiting brothers from Newtown and Britannia Lodges were accorded lodge honours. Routine business disposed of, members and visitors proceeded with the card tournament which resulted in Newtown Lodge winning the Telford Cup by 17 games to 14. Loyal Petone Lodge.—Bro. A. G. Steffensen, Noble Grand, presided over a good attendance. Bro. Foote notified members that a visit to Masterton Lodge by members of city and suburban lodges had been arranged for early next month. A report was received on the ping-pong tournament, of which C team were the winners. Advice was received of the foundation of a lodge cricket team. Nominations of officers were received as follows:— Noble grand, Bro. Gledhill; vice-grand, Bro. M. S. Steffensen; elective secretary, Bro. Seddon; warden, Sister Marshall and Bro. Sherwood; guardian. Bro. McDonald, Sister Marshall, and Bro. Clark; conductors, Bro. Brocklebank, jun., Sister Marshall, Bro. Lawrence, and Bro. W. Marshall; lecture master, Bros. Andrews and Foote; 1.P.N.G., Bro. A. G. Steffenson, jun. Members afterwards spent an enjoyable evening playing ping-pong, cards, and indoor bowls. ORDER OF RECHABITES. Kilbirnie Tent.—Sister Johnson, C.R., presided over a moderate attendance at the postponed meeting. Bro. Carpenter, district secretary, was a visitor and was accorded a welcome by the C.R. It was announced that the tent had been entered for the ritual competition to be held on December 5, and Bro. F. G. Johnson was appointed coach. The judges appointed are Bros. Davies and Jobson. Two new members were initiated. Bro. F. G. Johnson was appointed to draw up the lodge syllabus for 1936. Reports were made by Sister Johnson on a recent meeting of the Wellington Provincial Council, and by Bro. Chadburn on the annual meeting of the council. Bro. Bennett was presented with a P.C.R. collar,. Bro. Fathers, late district secretary, making the presentation. A competition evening was carried out after the meeting closed, Bro. and Sis. Charburn having charge. ORDER OF BUFFALOES. Haeremai Lodge.—Bro. J. May bury, in the absence of Bro. G: F. Keen, took the chair! Visitors from Liverpool, Tua Toru, Emulation, Diomede, and Kia Ora Lodges were in attendance. Harmony items were given by Bros. K. Rigby, Lonsdale, G. F. Keen, D. Lloyd, E. J. King, and Swanson. Bro. V. Parkinson, sick visitor, was thanked for his report. Kia Ora. Lodge.—Bro. T. Gordon presided over a record attendance of members of the Order. A large file of business was put. through during the evening, chief interest being in the election of the new Primo for the G.P. Lodge for 1936. The ballot was closed on Saturday last, and the result should be known this week. Bro. E. J. King (pianist) played the 'Garland of Flowers" and the "Dead March in Saul" in memory of Bros. A. Raeside and Dick Bennett who died during the past month. Harmony items were given by Bros. T. Gordon, F. Martin, G. F. Keen, and Edwin J. King. Visitors were Bros. Lawlor. J. Parker, and J Derrett. Wellington Lodge.—A very successful anniversary night was held on November 14, over 30 members being present, including visitors. Emulation Lodge (Karori).—Bro. F. McGreey was in the chair at the recent meeting. Visitors were Bros. Gil Hearn and F. Reyling. Harmony items were given by Bros. G. Hearn, E J. King, W. G. Hearn, F. Seagar, J. Bailey, and E. Newson. 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Kupe Lodge (Kilbirnie).—Bro. J. Kerwin, N.G., presided. Reports were received on memberhip progress, card evening, and Christmas party arrangements. The D.D.G.M. (Bro. R. J. Mathers) and district officers, also Bro. i E. Winter, N.G., and officers of Maraeniu Lodge made official visits. The following officers were installed for the current term by the D.D G M •—J Kerwin. Jones, W. J. Jarvis (Port Nicholson Encampment), H A Hardham (Zealandia Lodge), A. McPhee (Bellevue Lodge), E. K. Binsted (Southern Cross Lodge), and L. Cairns (Zealandia Lodge) extended greetings to the lodge. Congratulations were I extended to the Grand Warden on his I recent election as a Grand Representa-1 tive of New Zealand to the Grand Lodge of Australasia. The Past Grand Degree was conferred by the Grand Warden and the D.D.G.M. on four past grands. Maraenui Lodge (Miramar).—Bro. E. Winter, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Esther Rebekah Lodge (Karori) — Sister A. McKeand, N.G., presided over a good attendance. Essential business was conducted and the lodge then closed to permit a social to be held / Lily, of Valley Rebekah Lodge (Trentham).—Sister E. Hercus NG presided over a good attendance. After conducting essential business a social was held, there being present the Grand Warden (Bro. G. F. Rudkin), Br°- • A. J. Bargh, D.D.G.M., Hutt ValJ?y District, Sister M. Sergent, L.D.D.G.M., Wellington District, and a number of members from other Hutt Valley lodges. During the evening, on behalf of the lodge, the Grand Warden presented Sister A. Culling, secretary for several terms, with a past noble grands collar, and floral tributes
