JAPANESE SERVICE
EXTENSION TO SOUTH ISLAND
In future the motor-ships Sydney Maru, Melbourne Maru, and Brisbane Maru will call at Dunedin and Lyttelton, as well as at Wellington and Auckland, according to advice received from the company. Since 1.930, the Osaka Shosen Kaisha has maintained a monthly service from Japan to New Zealand, by way or Australia, with the three vessels which have a speed of 14 knots. The ships have been calling first at Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne from Moji, Japan, and llionce went on to Wellington and Auckland, returned to load at Sydney and Brisbane, and sailed on to Kobe.
The extended service to Dunedin ■<md Lyltclton will commence this month with Ok; Sydney Maru. After loudiiu; at Yokohama, Nagoya, Osaka Kobe, and Moji, the vessel is scheduled to leave Moji on November 25 for Hon},' Koiik, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Duna<ttn, LyUelton, Wellington, and Auckland. She is due at Dune-din on January 0, Lyttclton January 10, Wellington January H, and Auckland January 15. From Auckland she is to sail for Japan, via Sydney ynd Brisbane, on January 17, 'being due at Kobe, Japan, on February 10. The advice states that the extended service is being established with a view to fostering the trade between Japan and New Zealand. .
