STRATHNAVER'S CRUISE
MANY TOURISTS ABOARD
The Peninsular and ' Orient Line's tourist ship Strathnaver left Brisbane this morning on her first cruise of the season to New Zealand. She has on board over 800 visitors, and is due to arrive at Auckland about 3.30 p.m. on Friday. During the three days between the arrival of the ship in Auckland and her departure from Wellington the tourists will have ample opportunity of visiting the leading scenic resorts. !
Two parties will leave Auckland immediately the boat berths, one travelling by train and the other by motor-car to Waitomo, where the night will b.e spent. The next morning one group will continue their all-motor-car trip to Rotorua and Wairakei, where they will stay the second night, thence to Wanganui and Wellington. The other party will continue from Waitomo by motor-car to New Plymouth and on to Wellington on the Monday.
Those not leaving on these excursions will be offered the Auckland tour on the Friday afternoon, followed by the choice of three alternatives on the Saturday. There will be a return trip by train to Rotorua, and with this group will go two other parties booked through to Wellington. Both will stay the night at Rotorua, leaving the next morning by motor-car, one for Napier and the other for the National Park, both completing their journey by train. In all cases the longer trips have been arranged to allow ample time to connect with the Strathnaver before she sails from Wellington on her return trip at 6 p.m. on the Monday evening.
Details of the number taking each trip will not be known until later, but it is expected that the tourists will avail- themselves .of the opportunity of seeing as much as possible during their brief stay in the country.
