H.M.S. DIOMEDE
SERVICE AT COLOMBO
RETURNING IN JANUARY

AUCKLAND, This Day,
News that H.M.S. Diomede is to relieve H.M.S. Colombo on the Colombo Station and return to New Zealand in January next is indicated in air-mail letters received from the crew. The Diomede arrived at Singapore after a record run from Auckland, via Darwin. She was due to reach Colombo on November 2, after which H.M.S.Colombo was going to England for refit. It is understood the crew have been infoi-med by the officers that on the return voyage the Diomede will call at various Pacific Islands.
The letters state that all aboard are cheerful, and while enjoying the prospect of brief service at Colombo, are eagerly looking forward to returning to New Zealand early next year.
