CHARGE OF MURDER

N.S.W. TRAIN CASE

RESULT OF INQUEST

SYDNEY, November 19.

At the inquest concerning the death of Mr. Montague Henwood, State Conciliation Commissioner, whose body was found alongside the railway line 51 miles west of Sydney, the Coroner found that death was due to injuries inflicted by Edwin John Hickey, aged 17, who was committed for trial on a charge of murder. No application was made for bail.

Detective-Sergeant Mcßae tendered a statement, alleged to have been made by Hickey, according to which Hickey said that Henwood "got very irritable, throwing things at me and throwing me about the carriage. I lost my temper, and seeing a water bottle on the floor I picked it up and hit him as hard as I could on the head. He at once fell to the floor. I then went through his pockets."
