INSUFFICIENT ACCOMMODATION
The management committee of the Residential Nursery, Owen Street, met recently. Mrs. Porter presided.
The matron and committee expressed deep regret at having to refuse so many children, the accommodation being taxed to the utmost. The demand, it was pointed out, proved the great need of the nursery.
Mrs. Grocott received a very hearty welcome from all members, and pleasure was expressed at her recovery from a recent illness.
A vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Mrs. John Bell, who was greatly interested in the work, one of her last acts of kindness being a donation to the nursery. All members stood in silence.
Mrs. Wakelin was thanked for helping Miss Freeman in the furnishing of the reserve office.
Members are looking forward to hearing Dr. Agnes Bennett at the annual meeting on November 29. The Kelbum-Northland branch was thanked for its payment of the grocery bill. The matron and committee expressed thanks to the following donors for gifts in kind:—Mesdames Brown, Ross, Porter, Barclay, Gardiner, Reid (Khandallah), J. G. Hughes, Misses Freeman and Sheppard, and Messrs. Elliott,
