PETONE-HUTT CAS BOARD
The chairman ■ (Mr. W. G. Lodder) presided at the meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last evening. The works manager (Mr. C. Shaw), in his report for October, said that the gas manufactured was 9,283,000 cubic foet, which was a decrease of 389,000 cubic feet compared with October of last year and an increase of 66,000 cubic feet over September of this year. The average make per lon was 15,525 cubic feet. In his report for October, the secretary and distribution officer (Mr. O. Silbery) stated that 14 new services, 16 new cookers, 5 builders' cookers, 3 coppers, 3 caliphonts, 1 hotplate, and 22 new meters were installed. The number of cookers renewed was 16. The following details were given of . the sale of gas appliances for the halfyearly period ended September 30, the figures for the corresponding period last year being given in parentheses:— cookers, Petonc 7o (28), Lower Hutt 102 (40); coppers, Petone 2 (2), Lower Hutt 12 (6); caliphonts, Petone 7 (1), Lower Hutt 5 (G), water heaters, Petone 2 (—), Lower Hutt — (1); gas rings, Petone 5 (3), Lower Hutt 41 (17); gas fires, Petone 9 (3), Lower Hutt ID (8); urns, Petone 6 (—), Lower Hutt — (—); hotplates, Petone 1 (1), Lower Hult 5 (3). A letter was received from the Petone health camp committee thanki ing the board for its help, and saying that the sum of £100 had been raised in Petono. ,
