ESPERANTO CLUB
The weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club was held la^t Monday night in the hall of the Tararua Tramping Club, Nathan's Building, Grey Street. Mr. Vernon J. Leek presided. The first portion of the evening was devoted to tuition, the junior class being under the direction of Mr. Henri W. Thorns. The programme hour opened with a debate in Esperanto on "La Teatro kontrau La Kino," Mr. R. Douglas Saunders supporting the theatre and Mr. H. A. H. Vogt the ! cinema. The respective merits and demerits of the issue were wittily presented by both speakers. Miss Alice Phillips, Messrs. V. J. Leek, I. Gordon, Nelson Hill, A. G. Blong, J. Thomas, L. D. Smith, and Bertram Potts also presented their points of view, after which a show of hands revealed that the cinema had won the day.
