STRUCK BY TRAIN
GIRL FATALLY INJURED
ACCIDENT AT UPPER HUTT
Struck by a train at the Upper Hutt railway station at 4.55 p.m. yesterday, Margaret Anita Hazelwood, a twelve-year-old girl, suffered a fracture at the base of the skull and she died at 11.50. p.m. in the Wellington Hospital. The girl, who lived with her parents in Henry Street, Upper Hutt, was a pupil of the Hutt Valley. High School. She had stayed in the train, in company with another girl, after the j other passengers had left, and when the train was being shunted from the station she decided to leave. She stepped from the train on the side furthest from the platform and was struck by an express coming from the opposite direction.
